I ADORED this book.
I vaguely remember moaning ‘just kill me now’
into my soggy tissue, three quarters of the way through... eyes puffy after yet another bout of crying and hoping I would be able to stand it if Bear, the narrator of this story, and his little brother Ty received yet another
blow in what so far has been a pretty crappy life.
I do SO love a good angsty, character driven story and this one had me alternating sobs and laughter throughout. Perhaps though, to save on tissues and give the old eyes a rest, I , like Bear, should declare an embargo on crying (books, anyway) for a while.
It would do this story of Bear, Ty and Otter a real disservice if you got the impression it was only just angst and saccharine. Oh, it’s so much more than that. Do yourselves a favour and spend a little time with these three precious boys …and their wonderfully quirky supporting cast of best friends, ex girlfriends and rock steady seventy year old neighbours.
These guys were so hard to let go : )
Thank you, TJ Klune! And congrats on an unforgettable debut novel.
